Week 2 - Final day: Hunger Games

Today, we finished the second half of Hunger Games. We are going to summarize the second half, introduce some more characters, and make some predictions for the next movie (no one on the predictions team read the books).

Summary:

Katniss escapes from the fire. She finds Rue, the girl from district 11, and they protect each other. But, Rue was killed. After that Katniss found Peeta and he was hurt. All the contenders died except Cato and they fought, and Katniss and Peeta won.

Characters:
President Snow:

• He is corrupt.
• He is in charge of the games.

Cato:

• He loves the violence.
• He was strong and intelligent.

Rue:

• She was lovely.
• She was brave.

Seneca

• He was in charge of the scenery.
• In the end of the film he was punished.

Predictions:

• There will be another Hunger Games.
• Peeta will die from sickness.
• Katniss and Gale will get married and they will volunteer for the 75th Hunger Games.
• The president will change the rules for the 75th Hunger Games. There will only be one winner instead of two.
• Gale will die during the games.

Week 2 - Day 4: Hunger Games

Today, we started watching Hunger Games. We have summarized what we have seen so far, described the characters, and a group of students who had not seen the movie made predictions for what will happen tomorrow.

Summary:
Peeta and Katnoss were chosen.
The made an impression to the sponsor.
Katniss was very brave when she shows her skills.
The battle game starts. During the first 8 hours 13 participants died.
During the game, Katniss refused to fight. The people who control the game forced her to play the game.
Katniss was hurt.

Week 2 - Day 3: Final part of Coming to America

Today, we have finished watching Coming to America. We have added more characters to our list and an analysis of them. Also, we have summarized what happened in the second half and made some predictions of what would happen after the film.

Summary:
Akeem and Lisa have a date, after that they fall in love. After that, Semmi sends a telegram to the king because they need money. The king, the queen, and the servants, come to america to take the prince back to Zamunda, but the prince doesn't go back because he wants to stay with Lisa. At the end of the movie the prince gets married. He thinks the bride is the first wife, but he was surprised when he realized that it was Lisa. <3 s2 <3

King Joffe:

He is old school. He is traditional. He is the kings father.
Queen Aoleon:

She is lovely. She wants her son to be happy.
Patrice:

She only wants money, and she is a gossip.
Cleo McDowell:

He is Lisa's father. He is ambitious.

Predictions:

• Akeem and Lisa will stay together. Also they will have 5 children.
• Akeem and Lisa's children will live in Africa, but they will go to school in America
• Patrice becomes a nun.
• Semmi becomes gay and adopts two children.
• Darryl becomes a fat bald guy.

Week 2 - Day 2: Coming to America

Today, we started to watch the movie Coming to America. We introduce the characters, and summarize what has happened so far.We have also made predictions about what will happen in the movie.

Characters:

• Akeem (The Prince): He is the prince of Zamunda Kingdom and he needs to find a wife who falls in love with him. Not for money but for himself.

• Semmi (Akeem's friend): He is the best friend of Akeem. He comes to America with Akeem to help him look for a wife.

• Lisa: She is a beautiful girl and she's daughter of McDowell. And Akeem falls in love with her.

• Daryl: He is Lisa's boyfriend and he uses Soul Glo

Summary:

• 21st birthday of Akeem who is the prince of Zamunda and he si sad because he is alone and wants to find a wife who loves him for himself and not for his money. So he goes to Queens looking for a queen and he has many adventures. He gets a job and he is falling in love with the boss's daughter.

Prediction:

• The prince will fight for Lisa's love.
• Lisa will fall in love with the prince at the basketball game.
• Lisa's father won't accept the prince because he thinks he's poor.
• Semmi will fall in love with Lisa's sister.

Week 2 - Day 1: Movie Choices / Futurama Episode

Today, we watched one episode of Futurama. Then we voted on which two movies we would see this week. The movies we will see are Coming to America and Hunger Games.

Futurama:

First they went to the moon. Then they entered a park, and Amy lost the keys to the spaceship. Leela and Fry left the amusement park on the moon, and they found a barn. They had to leave because Bender touched one of the farmer's robot daughters. They escaped to the original moon landing site. Amy rescued them.

Coming to America:

Week 1 - Day 5: TV Shows

Today we watched the pilot episodes of "How I met Your Mother" and "Malcolm in the Middle." We will break our blog into four parts today, discussing the characters introduced in the pilots and a summary of the episodes.

How I Met Your Mother
Characters:
Ted: He is an architect. He is single. His best friends are Lilly, Marshall and Barney. He is the one telling the story and wants to find his true love.
Marshall: He's going to get married with Lilly, he likes olives and he lives with Ted.
Lilly: She a teacher, she's Marshall's girlfriend. She likes olives. She has a fuin personality.
Barney: He likes to wear suits. He likes women a lot. He wants to be Ted's best friend and behaves liek a teenager.
Robin: She is a TV reporter who likes dogs and hated olives.

Summary of Pilot:
Its about Ted's story about who he meets his wife, he tells it to his son and daughter.
Ted's friends Lilly and Marshal are getting engaged.
Ted meets Robin at the bar playing "have you met Ted?"
Then Ted got a date with Robin.
Ted told Robin about Marshall's olive theory.
Ted went to Robin's apartment and he told her "I love you"

Malcolm in the Middle
Characters:
Malcolm: He is the main character. He is a genius kid discovered by a teacher.
Francis: The oldest one and a troublemaker. He goes to military school.
Reese: Second oldest. Older than Malcolm and Dewey and he is a bully.
Dewey: he is the youngest.
Mom and Dad: They don't care so much about the kids.
Stevie: He is a smart kid, Malcolm's friend and he is handicapped.

Summary of Pilot:
It is a story about a weird family with the parents and 4 sons. The principal character is the one in the middle, in this episode it is about how a teacher discovers that Malcolm is a genius.
In the school, Malcolm met Stevie who was in the special class too, but they didn't have a good relationship until one day the bully tried to fight with Malcolm and by mistake Stevie helped him to beat the bully. So Malcolm became the hero of the day and they started to become good friends.

Week 1 - Day 4: Happy

We watched the first 50 minutes of the documentary "Happy." These are the stories and topics introduced in the movie that we felt were the best to talk about.

Japan & Okinawa

Okinawa is one of the happiest places in the world. They are Japanese, but they spend a big part of their lives keeping in touch with their community and it makes them happier than other Japanese people, because they have a healthier lifestyle. On the other hand, the rest of the Japanese people live very stressful lives and they spend a big part of their lives working. In this way these people die so young that they can't have more life experiences. They don't care about family they just think about work and money. This is a huge difference between them and the Okinawan people, because the Okinawans often live more than a 100 years.

Extrinsic:

We found out that aspects as money, status, and looks don't have a critical effect on happiness, for example:

In Japan people care a lot about industrialization and money, but they don't enjoy the money that earn working so hard, and they are not happy even thought they have a lot of money.

Another example is an Indian man which has no high status, and still is a happy person enjoying his family and all the simple things.

In addition to that a Texan woman realized that looking good is not the to happiness, although she was a really beautiful woman, until she had an accident she understood what really makes you happy. 

Denmark

The woman thought she was lost in her life.

She was alone with her children.

She wanted to have a big family to rely on.

She felt supported by the community where she lived.

She is happier than she used to be when she was alone.

She likes living with old people because she considers them as grandparents.

She thinks living with many people saves her own family time.

They have different roles inside the community like cooking and cleaning.

The children are happier because they have friends in school and in their home.

Woman from Texas (Former beauty queen)

This is the story of a beautiful woman who had a car accident which her face was disfigured after that her husband was divorced, then she lost her beauty and she felt like her world was falling down. Then she had a surgery and she had her face reconstructed and she found a new husband. Finally, she felt happier than before. She needed to find her own happiness.

Week 1 - Day 3: Good Will Hunting

Part 2 of Good Will Hunting. We have summarized the final important aspects of the film in the following: Love story, Mathematics/Job offers, and offer predictions to the open ending.
Love story:

• They broke up even though they love each other, because he wasn't ready to say "I love you"
• Will wasn't ready to have a relationship with Skylar  
• Will had to clear his mind 
• Will called Skylar to say goodbye before her flight
• Skylar tried to convince him to say "i love you" but Will just answered take care
• She flew to California to continue her medicine studies 
• At the end Will changed his mind about love and he went looking for Skylar <3

Mathematics/Job opportunities:

Will had his first job interview and he send Chuckie to did it, Then Will had a fight with Lambeau about some math problems and he burned it, and the professor tried to saved it. In fact Lambeau talked with Sean to help him with Will, and they started to fight and Sean was disagree. After that Will went to NSA interview and he rejected it. When Will finished his therapy he finally changed his attitude and got a great job, but at the end he preferred to go away with his sweet heart... To be continued S2 !

Therapy:

Will changes:

Will is absent of therapy.
Chuck encourages Will to make use of his potential.
Will listens Sean's fight with the professor and that makes him trust Sean.
Will breaks down with Sean when he tells him that all he has suffered is not his fault.
Will's behavior improve and accepts a job offer but he prefers to go with Skylar.

Sean's Changes:

He starts to care about Will's life.
Sean improves his attitude along with Will during the sessions.
Will help him finding out a new reason to live.
Sean became a good friend of Will and not just his therapist.

Predictions for what will happen after the movie ended:
A) Will and Skylar: They will live together and will get married. He will continue doing Math, and will become famous and win the Field's medal. They will have a beautiful and successful family.
B) Chukie: He will improve his life with Will's help. He might go to school and get a better job.
C) Sean: He will win the lottery. He will travel around the world and will be a teacher at MIT and work with his best friend Professor Lambeau.
D) Lambeau: He will accept his limitations and enjoy his life outside MIT.

Week 1 Day 2 - Good Will Hunting

We started Good Will Hunting and watched the first hour. This our recap of the story so far and out predictions of what will happen tomorrow. The people who made the predictions have not seen the movie before.

1. Characters
Will (Matt Damon): main character he is from Boston, he is an orphan, he is a trouble maker, he is a genius, he is sarcastic, he doesn't have a plan for his life.

Chuckie (Ben Affleck): he is Will's best friend, he is also a trouble maker, he is a construction worker, he likes going to bars.

Proff. Lambeau: math profesor at MIT he discovers Will's talent, he decides to support him.

Skylar: she is an student at Harvard medicine school, Will has a crush on her

Sean Maguire (Robin Williams): he is Will's therapist, he is a widower, he likes challenges

Will's friends: they get in trouble with Will

2. The  Love Story

They met in a bar in Harvard when Will defended Chuckie
She gave her number to Will on a napkin
They had their first date and they kissed while eating
He didn't call her for a long time
He comes by her dorm but she is too busy to go out with him
He helps with her homework hoping they could go out
They go to a dogs race and he lies about his life

3. The Math Story Line
The main character solved a very difficult math problem and nobody knew who solved it. The the professor was trying to find the genius. After a couple of days the professor saw Will solving another math problem on MIT's chalkboard. The professor was trying to find out who this guy was, and finally he found him in court. As the professor wanted to Will to get out of jail, he spoke with the judge and they decided to let Will out if he accepted two conditions. The first one was to do some math stuff and the second was to see a therapist, so Will started to have a real math connection with the help of professor Lambeau.

4. The Therapy Story Line
The first therapist was gay.
The second therapist hypnotized.
He lost 5 therapists because he embarrassed.
The professor went to his old roommate and asked him to give Will therapy.
In the first session Will tried to find out the weakness of the new therapist, and found out it was about his wife. He upset the new therapist.
In the second session the therapist takes Will to the park and they talked about how Will knows things in theory but has no experience in real life.
The next session the therapist showed Will that if he doesn't speak first that they will not talk at all.
The other session Will talks to the therapist about the girl he met, and the therapist shares with him the history about how he met his wife.

5. Predictions for second half of movie.
Will will change his attitude.
Will will be an analyst also.
The therapist will help him stop lying.
Lambeau will recognize Will's intelligence with everyone.
Will will live happily forever.
